| I was born on April 10, 1984 here on long island. I have lived on long island my whole life. I was raised in a home that was very health conscious, and rarely had sugary cereal or cookies to munch on; that's what my grandmother's home was for! This may have carved my interest in healthful eating, which lead me to Long Island University where I studied Nutrition as my major. As for training, from the age of 13, I played with light dumbbells in my spare time or would take a jog every now and then. I never actually played sports; my sports background consists of one season of basketball in 7th grade. It is really my husband who has inspired me. He has been my biggest supporter from the beginning. We were one day looking through a Flex magazine and they had a spread on women's bodybuilding and fitness, along with figure. I thought these were the most beautiful women on earth! So I started doing some research and I really adored the earlier bodybuilders from the later 80's, especially Bev Francis! After seeing "Pumping Iron 2", I knew that being a bodybuilder was truly what I wanted. I loved the hard effort, and dedication that was illustrated by Bev in this documentary and looked up to her as my idol. I began seriously lifting when I was 20. The most rewarding part initially was watching myself become stronger. I love to lift heavy. After getting the hang of lifting I knew it was time to start losing some fat so I could appreciate that hard earned muscle I was getting. After almost two years of extremely strict dieting, I was able to keep my muscle, put on some more, and lose about 20 pounds of fat, yuck! Anyway I love getting ready for a competition because I find the Human body to be so amazing. I love to watch it change as I modify my diet or my cardio, who doesn't? I train just about everyday. I believe that my body will let me know when it is time to lift or to rest. Lifting is a great part of my day and I look forward to it. My training split changes but is usually as follows: Mon- Quads Tues- Back & Tris Wed- Chest & Abs Thurs- Hams & Bi Fri- Shoulders & Abs Sat- Back to quads! Sun- Back to Back and Tri's or off! I NEED to do cardio Everyday, so off season is always 1 hour in the morning, and when prepping for a contest I'll go up to 2 hours, split one hour in the Am and one Hour in the Pm. Off season I eat very clean, allowing my self to have One cheat meal a week if I want it. I LOVE PIZZA (see last picture, LOL). I mostly love all the training exercises I perform in the gym; but the favorites are probably Squats, Flat bench, and Lat pulldowns. Some lifts would currently be: Squat- 245 x 6... Goal for now is work to 315 Bench- 155 w/ spotter x 2? or 3? Lat pull down- 210 x 4 Dumbbell Bicep Curls- 50 x 6 Leg press- 630 (7plates) x 8 Hammer single arm low row- 4 plates x 8 *I love to play around a lot with my last "best" lifts, and I always want to keep getting stronger, so I will say these are my stats for now!! My favorite body part might be my back, because when I started lifting I had no lats and was very narrow. My back is now probably my strongest body part, it measures about 38' , my arms are 13' , and my waist is 27' . As far as weight goes, off season I am about 135, contest I am 125. My typical day has consisted of Cardio in the Am, Training about an hour later for about 1-1 1/2 hours, Of course spending the day with my amazing husband, playing with our two children who happen to be the two sweetest Red Nose Pit Bulls, eating dinner together, housework, Pm cardio. I usually take about an hour out of the day to prep food for the whole day and the following day. One thing people don't know about me, until they come to my home, is that I am obsessive about having a clean home so I love doing house work. Another surprising fact is that I drive a real Hummer (H1), the ones the army uses, and like Arnold owns. I had to work two jobs, and save for two years to earn that truck! I love it, and I will drive it until it dies...but it is suppose to last 1,000,000 miles!! When I do have free time I love to flip through Flex, MD, Musclemag, or Ironman. Some of my favorite past times besides spending time with my husband include practicing mixed martial arts, grappling, and shutzhund. For any one who is not familiar with schutzhund it originated in Germany and all it pretty much is is teaching a dog protection and bite work skills. Going back to fighting, I love grappling, it is such an awesome work out, the adrenaline is rushing through you body, you have lost your breathe, and it is a battle to see who will "tap out". For my contest history I have only competed in one show, the NPC 2007 NY Metropolitan, and may I say trained liked an animal. I placed 1st in the light weight division, and had the most rewarding learning experience. As for the future it would be an absolute dream to become part of the IFBB, but for the next few years my goal is to work towards becoming a great national competitor for women's bodybuilding, while being as feminine as possible. I want to revive what Bev Francis & Cory Everson brought to the sport, beautiful women with muscle. Please note: Carolyn does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!! |
