Where and when were you born? I was born in 1983 on Halloween.

What is your profession? I am a criminology student at St..Mary's University and I work at a gym part time.

What kind of activities/sports did you do before you started lifting weights? I did cheerleading in high school, I wasn't much of a sport player.

How and when did you get involved into lifting weights? I started lifting weights after high school, when I seen definition in my arms rather quickly I was hooked.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? Well after I started getting in shape I thought about trying a fitness competition but I was having trouble thinking up a a routine and doing it properly, so a trainer at my gym who introduced the idea of competing told me to just try bodybuilding, so I did and I love it now.

What was your first competition and how did you place? My first competition was in April of 2003 when I was 19. I placed second in women’s lightweight division.

And which contest has been the biggest success for you yet? I've only competed twice. At the provincial show and at Canadian Nationals as a junior woman. Nationals was definitely the highlight of my bodybuilding days. I really seen what it takes to compete at that level and I was so inspired after watching the women there to one day compete on that stage as a senior woman.

Please describe a typical day in the life of Cindy Phillips. A typical day involves going to classes, working out, eating and watching T.V. That's pretty much everything I do in a day.
Please tell me something about your daily training routine. Going to the gym is my favourite part of the day, That's where I feel the most comfortable. Each day I train I try to go heavy and I also try to do a little cardio after my workout.

How often do you train in a week? About 5 days a week. Sometimes I go more than that but just to do things like abs and calves and cardio.

What are the main differences when you train for a competition and in off-season? Well I train the same in the gym on and off season except I do much more cardio. The main difference is in my eating. Off-season I like to eat treats!!

Biceps: 14
Calves 14.5, Quad 23, waist 27

Which body part is your best in your opinion? Probably my back, that's what everyone tells me anyway.

What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don't like so much? My favorite exercise is Dumbell presses for chest > I love doing chest I like those exercises the most. I don't really like doing lat pull downs.

Judging in Women's Bodybuilding has always been criticized in one or the other way. Please tell me your honest thoughts about today's judging in Women's Bodybuilding. Well I think that women’s bodybuilding should be judged on the best bodybuilding physique. It seems sometimes they say they're going for as more feminine look but that shouldn't matter in bodybuilding it should be about the physique. More feminine form of bodybuilding is figure so that sort of judging should be left for that.

Please tell me about what else you are doing when you don't work out (profession, hobbies, etc.) I love to shop and go for walks with my little Chihuahua. I like to hang out with friends and I'm a sucker for reality TV.
